For guitar and bass players, Record comes installed with separate guitar and bass POD® units from amp and cab simulation experts Line 6 Inc. With bass and guitar amplifiers available for every single track in your Record project, you are never short of interesting tones and timbres. As the Line 6 amplifiers are insert effects and don’t affect the original instrument signal, you are free to change your amplifier and cabinet settings at any point in time – even after laying down your track.

The Record rack
All the instruments, processors and effect units used in a song are housed inside Record’s customizable rack. Mix

The Record Effects
Your Record rack can be stacked with an infinite number of reverbs, distortion units, delays, dynamic processors, mastering EQs – everything you need to shape and color your sounds. Click and drag effects straight to the rack, or load any of the expertly crafted patches.

EQ Section
The mixing console features a warm sounding EQ section with high and low pass filters, high and low shelving filters as well as parametric midrange filters. This is where you can add some extra polish to your recordings, and the sound is just fabulous.

Channel Dynamics
Every channel has its own fully featured dynamics section with compressor, gate and expander functions.

Effect Sends
The console has eight dedicated effect sends and each channel’s sends can be set to work pre or post fader. Adding a send effect to the mixer is a two mouseclick affair. Simply right-click in the mixer’s master section and select what effect you want to use. Simple!

Insert effects
Record’s mixer features a clever way to handle insert effects. As explained on the Record page, each track in Record is made up of three components: a sequencer track, a rack device (audio track or mix device) and a mixer channel. In the rack device, you can put all the insert effects you want on your sound, and you can also map controls on the insert effects to the insert section in the mixer.

These setups can then be saved as patches for instant recall. Record ships with a large library of ready-made insert patches for a wide array of applications. Reason users will recognize this method from Reason’s combinator, so in essence this is like having a dedicated combinator per mixer channel.

Fader Section
Here’s the control you will find yourself using more than anything else in the mixer. As the name and the picture implies, this is where the faders are and this is also where you set the pan, handle solo and mute. Stereo channels also have a stereo width control.

Master Compressor
The Master compressor is what gives your music that final touch. The legendary dynamics processor it was modeled after is in use in studios all over the world.

	SE1aEntry level instrument mic… great for micing acoustic guitars, pianos, strings and percussion especially. No 10dB pad, so best to go to an sE4 if you expect to be recording loud sources like snare drums. The sE1a is also available as a stereo matched pair.
	sE2a Good all rounder entry level pencil mic… great for recording micing acoustic guitars, pianos, strings and percussion. It is more flexible than the sE1a although based on the same design, as it has three capsules. The Omni is useful for overheads on percussion/kit and the hypercardioid for directional micing where rejection of indirect sources is important (for example when recording several instruments together). Again, no 10dB pad on this mic, so best to go to an sE4 with extra capsules if you expect to be recording loud sources.
	sE4sE’s premium instrument mic, this mic is really excellent and is used by most of our high end clients and endorsees. It is very good on percussion, strings, guitar and piano and has the added benefit of a 10 and 20dB pads and Bass cut switch which makes it ideal for louder source material; for example it can also be used on electric guitar cabs. The sE4 is also available as a stereo matched pair.
	H1 Based on the acclaimed sE1a capsule but retuned for stage use with a higher SPL and slight HF roll-off, this mic is ideal for many applications including live or studio vocals, acoustic guitar, live drums, piano etc. A great all rounder for the project studio owner that also plays live, and perfect for the live stage performer for main vocals.
	GM10 – Guitar MicThe guitar mic is a unique new addition to the sE range, designed to solve an age old problem in micing acoustic guitars for studio recordings. There is always a trade off when recording, between the need to stay still in front of the mic to avoid changes in the sound of the instrument as it’s recorded, and the need for the performer to get an ‘emotional’ take. The two requirements don’t sit well together and this often leads to recorded takes sounding too clinical… too ‘perfect’ and lacking the performance element that often makes a song. The clamping mechanism, Bass cut and shock mount ensure that there is no mechanical noise transferred through the guitar body. This allows the user to capture a perfect recording every time, while still being able to move around freely, which encourages the performer to give their best on a take. The Guitar Mic really does transform recorded performances of acoustic guitar, and the way you work in the studio.
	sE1000aAn entry level studio condenser mic, this is a great starter mic for most project studio applications including vocals, guitars and percussion. Its build quality sets is way above similarly priced competitor mics, since at sE we focus on the sound an not the gimmicks!
	sE2200a A multi award-winning LDC, this mic is a fantastic all rounder. Its primary function is for recording studio vocals and acoustic guitars, but it’s versatile enough to use on just about any source material, unless you have a specific requirement for multiple patterns (e.g. overhead Omni). Twice winner of the UK’s most prestigious award, the MIA award for studio mic of the year.
	Z3300aThe Z3300a is a step up from the 2200a in many ways, and a truly multiple application mic. It has a larger 1.07” diaphragm which captures more bass and low/mids, top range electronic components and three polar patterns. Useful on just about anything you care to try it on!
	4400a This is our true all-rounder mic. It is specifically designed to work as well as possible on all applications; acoustic and electric guitars, percussion, vocals, piano, live and studio recording… if you only have one mic, this is the one to get! Also available as a matched stereo pair.
	T2Based on the chassis and feature set of the 4400a, this mic is more niche, being specifically aimed at percussive material including drums (and percussion of course), picked guitar, piano, spoken word and rap. It is also one of the very best kick drum mics that money can buy!
	IcisThis is a specialist tube mic. It has a slight high end roll-off which makes it very good on things like female vocals and saxophone. For people who prefer more ‘vintage’ sounding mics (as opposed to more ‘modern’ sounding mics, which are often more detailed
	Z5600a IIThe tube relation to the Z3300a, this mic is remarkably good on vocals and guitars, but a great all rounder on just about any source material with its 9 polar patterns, 10dB pad and Bass cut. It’s a more modern sounding tube mic, used by many of our most well respected endorsees, and many professional recording studios.
	Gemini IIYou have to listen to this mic… it’s like nothing you’ve ever heard, and with good reason… it has a completely unique design! The Gemini is a single cardioid pattern mic which is simply awesome on vocals and acoustic guitars. The fist tube gives the kind of colouration you’d expect on a good tube mic. The second acts in place of a transformer (the Gemini is transformerless). The end result is a mic which is truly the best of both tube and solid state sound, and like no other mic on the market.
	RibbonLike all ribbon mics ours is both delicate and subtle… and gives completely different results to a condenser mic… darker, smoother and sexier!! Unlike most it has a 1.8 micron membrane, which means its far sweeter sounding than its competitors. Applications range from micing guitar cabs (something for which ribbons are often used for a more coloured ‘retro’ sound), to classical strings, or even dark and moody vocals.   A ribbon mic, especially an sE, will give you startlingly different results to a classic condenser, and if you already have a mic or two at your disposal it can prove an invaluable tool for getting a sound that’s not so middle-of-the-road. Definitely one to experiment with.
	Ribbon TubeThis is something a bit special! The worlds first production tube ribbon mic has all the qualities of the best ribbon mics on the market, but with a beautifully smooth edge for silky recordings of guitar cabs (something for which ribbons are often used for a more coloured ‘retro’ sound), classical strings, or even dark, sweet, vocals. A ribbon mic, especially an sE, will give you startlingly different results to a classic condenser, and this is no exception. If you already have a mic or two at your disposal, and want something very different to play with, the Ribbon Tube is an invaluable tool for getting a sound that no other mic can give you. Definitely one to experiment with.
	RNR1This is our very best Ribbon mic. It has won huge critical acclaim, being touted by the press and professionals alike as the best Ribbon mic on the market today, and yet at no where near the cost of some of the other high end brands. What makes it so special is its extended HF and LF response, so that it maintains al the character of the best Ribbons around, but extends the use of the mic beyond the normal niche of guitars and the odd vocal. With this ribbon you can record anything from lead vocals, to piano, drums and percussion, guitars, brass and woodwind etc etc and get the most natural reproduction of the instrument you will ever hear.
	USB1000a Based on the sE1000a this is the ideal starter mic for project studios wishing to use USB connectivity… ideal for acoustic guitars and vocals, plus speech/podcasting
	USB2200aBased on our industry standard sE2200a, this is a USB mic with several key differences to some of the cheap competitor mics coming onto the market. For a start it is switchable from USB to standard 48V phantom powered analogue, so you can use it as a true studio condenser. It also has zero latency headphone monitoring built in, so you can use it on the road with a laptop and don’t even need an audio interface. The quality is also stunning compared with its rivals… by far the best USB mic available today. The Akai MINIAK Micro Synth puts up to eight multi-timbral voices at your fingertips, each with three oscillators. You can create interesting and unique sounds and take advantage of the more-than-600 preset sounds and store up to 1,000 programs in the MINIAK.

The synth also has two multi-mode filters, three envelope generators, two LFOs, stereo effects, and a 40-band vocoder. On top of all of this sound-melding power, the MINIAK has a comprehensive sequencer with step and dynamic real time phrase sequencing, a drum machine/rhythm sequencer, and an arpeggiator to aid in creating the landscapes and textures you’re after.
